Minimalism is a term used a lot in modern style and fashion, but before we jump to adopt this new way of dressing, let’s find out what it is and why it is steadily becoming a popular way to dress and live. So the idea of minimalism stems from art and music as do other movements in popular culture like cubism and surrealism. The minimalist movement in art, arose in the 1950s and was characterized by the use of simple, massive forms.

In style, minimalism is characterized by wearing plain colours and pieces in seemingly simple ways. Key pieces in a minimalist wardrobe may include plain coloured t-shirts, plain coloured pants and shoes as well. Colours that are incorporated into a minimalist wardrobe may include white, black, grey, navy and military shade green.

The idea behind minimalist style is to own a small number of essential items that one uses to create outfits. Sounds weird, I know, but once you begin to get into minimalist style you begin to realize that minimalism is the ultimate mastery of basics.
