What music means to me.

I think we are all connected, in so many ways but specifically through the songs we sing, love and that play in our heads. I think music is love and beauty and feeling emotion interconnectedly( I know that’s not a real word). In a moment where me and someone else are listening to the same song or it’s playing in our heads and we catch each others eye and we know that in that moment in a weird way, we are one. We are part of that song and we are mixed in with it’s beauty and everyone else listening to the song and feeling how we feel is also us. But that’s just about songs as complete works of art and in a sense as entities. Music breaks down into chords, melodies, beats and sounds among alot of other aspects. Sometimes I listen to a melody or a lyric and in that moment I could swear that I could live inside that melody or lyric or tune for a lifetime. I have this thing where I hear a song and I can’t get it out of my head for days, sometimes even weeks. Back when I was in high-school, I would sing the same song in my head, hum the tune and mumble lyrics I didn’t even know because I heard it once before I went to school. Throughout my life I can always remember a song that either got me through a hard time, or played during a happy period or was really just there on the dull days. Music for me is my heart, and I believe it is for a lot of people. Part of the job I do, is to sell music and I could swear that some of the people who buy the music listen to it with their hearts, or souls. It’s not a physical thing, it’s not just the ears, you look at them and you see them close their eyes as the song plays in the background and for a second you can see something inside them awaken to feel this music, this music that they love. I realise now that I even hate songs from my heart and most times when I hate a song I still end up singing along to it. So in conclusion I think music is the true power, forget science and math for a second, the true beauty and essence of our world is contained in our melodies and beats and that to me is what we truly are. That is the true embodiement of humanity, our music.

Finally, in true high school fashion the song I dedicate to anyone reading this is know you by simi and ladipoe. Right now, this is the song I could live inside.
