The Da Vinci Code: Book Review.

Dan Brown’s the Da Vinci code, takes the reader on an amazing journey, from the moment Robert Langdon meets lieutenant  Jerome Collet from Direction Centrale Police Judiciare(DCPJ) the tale unravelles beautifully and at a steady pace that keeps you feinding for the next chapter. The story follows Robert Langdon, renown Harvard Professor of religious symbology and Sophie Nevue a DCPJ cryptographer and the grand daughter of the murder victim, Jacques Sauniere as they race to solve his murder through a series of systematic clues, and end up uncovering an even more shocking trail of secrets.

Genre: Historical Thriller.
Category: Detective and Mystery.

The novel has a steady pace in which the events unravel, coupled with amazing and shocking twists in the plot. The scenes for the events are set beautifully and with great detail causing a surreal effect for the reader.  The characters in the novel are wholesome and we are able to understand their motivations easily. The main protagonists and antagonists are three dimensional and we are able to sympathise with characters like Silas even though they are antagonistic forces in the story. The Details of the book are impeccably researched and based, It feels really informative throughout the story.
The book was an impressively enjoyable read, To be honest I couldn’t put the book down without feeling a pang in my chest. I feel the subplots were perfectly crafted and fed perfectly into the main plot. The end was such a shocking twist but we are left at a sort of cliffhanger, which I did actually really appreciate because it caused me to continue thinking about it long after I had finished the book.
The writing style Dan Brown uses is quite appropriate for this type of story as he relays the thoughts of all the characters perfectly even during the periods of intense and fast paced action, actually especially  then.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery and conspiracy theories. It’s a great story and the way it is told makes it a personal favourite of mine. I would also recommend it to historical fiction lovers and Art and history lovers.

Star rating: This book gets 4.5/5 stars from me.
